Prayer #105: For University and College Reopening This Fall
Across the country, universities and colleges are taking different approaches to reopen their classes this fall in light of the COVID-19 virus. Locally, NC State, UNC, and Duke are all reopening for on-site, in-person classes, where classrooms will be reconfigured for 6-foot social distancing, and face masks will be mandatory. Traffic flow within buildings will be regulated, with separate doors for entrance and exit. There will be lower occupancy in dormitories and changes in dormitory living.
At other institutions in the nation, however, different approaches are being taken. Many universities and colleges will be operating on a hybrid model, with some courses offered in-person and others online. Others are restricting the number of students allowed back on campus. At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), for instance, only seniors will be able to come back. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will take courses online only. Many of the Ivy League universities, most notably Harvard, have shut down in-person learning all together for this fall. Approximately 40% of students will be able to return to Harvard, but all learning for everyone, on-campus or off, will be done remotely.
Pray for university/college students, professors, and administration as classes resume, in various formats, this fall. Pray for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 on our campuses. Above all, continue to pray for God to move in our college and universities, where God's presence is so desperately needed. Pray for the Gospel to run and triumph at our institutions of learning during this time of the Coronavirus crisis.
Rom. 12:2: "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
