Prayer #114: For the Continued Closure of Embassies and Consulates in the U.S., Affecting Foreign College Students
U.S. embassies and consulates around the world have remained closed since March due to the COVID-19 virus. This has greatly affected the number of foreign university and college students that were planning to come this fall to study. In order to come, they will need student visas, and this must be done through the embassies and consulates. The lack of visas affects a very large percentage of the overall university/college student body in the U.S.: about 10% in total are foreign students. There has been some indication from the State Department that they will open the embassies to students to obtain visas, but up to now, that has not happened, and with the renewed COVID-19 outbreak that have led to renewed restrictions of travel between many countries, it may not for some time. So, it would appear that, if things remain as they are, this fall there will be a greatly reduced number of foreign students. NC State, for example, only has at present 10% of the normal number of foreign students registered.
Pray for the literally hundreds of thousands of foreign students affected by the continued closure of U.S. embassies and consulates around the globe. Pray that, if travel from their country of origin is permitted, that a way might be made for them to get the visas and other paperwork they need to come and study. Also, we pray for wisdom for those making the decisions as to whether visas should or should not be issued to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Matt. 11:28: "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
