Prayer #115: For the United States Postal Service During the Coronavirus Crisis
The United States Postal Service has been significantly affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, which had already posted a loss of $4.5 billion for the quarter ending in March. With the effects of the shutdowns and restrictions, single-piece mail has been down about 20%. Losses will increase by $22 billion over the next year-and-a-half, USPS officials believe. There have been many additional expenses for personnel protective equipment, deep cleaning of facilities, and temporary workers to replace those who have gotten sick with the virus. As many as 12,000 USPS workers have contracted the virus, and 64 have died from it. There are 600,000 USPS workers in the nation. There is concern that if the losses continue, postal service may be affected.
Pray for that there would very soon be a return to the normal volume of mail. Pray for wisdom for government officials to decide whether additional funds are needed to enable the United States Postal Service to weather this crisis.
Nahum 1:7: "The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows those who take refuge in Him."
