Prayer #119: For NC Public, Private and Christian Schools in the Fall During the COVID-19 Outbreak
On July 14, NC Governor Roy Cooper advised schools in the state that they could start this fall either with a mixture of in-person and online-at-home instruction or proceed with all-remote learning. Since then, schools across the state have begun to post what they intend to do when school resumes in August. Just yesterday, the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) board voted to have its district's public schools start off, beginning August 17, with remote learning only. Pre-K and Special Education students in the WCPSS are scheduled to begin in-person learning on September 8th. Other Triangle-area public school districts---Orange County, Chatham County, and Durham County---will also be using the remote-only approach. Franklin County public schools will be following a hybrid approach, with some days in-class and others remote. Johnston County's public school system has not yet announced its decision but is expected to do so later today.
Some private schools and Christian schools in Wake Country, including Cary Christian School, Cary Academy, Grace Christian Academy, and Raleigh Christian Academy are opening their doors for all in-person learning, while others, including Cardinal Gibbons High School, Cary Academy, the Montessori School of Raleigh, North Raleigh Christian Academy, and Ravenscroft School, will be using a blend of in-person and remote learning as classes resume.
Pray for public, private, and Christian schools as classes begin next month. Pray for wisdom in creating the social distancing required for in-person learning and in implementing masking and cleaning protocols. Pray for students to follow the necessary safety requirements and to take them seriously. Pray for God's protection for students, teachers, and school staff once school begins again.
John: 16:33: "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
