Prayer #146: For College Campuses During the COVID-19 Outbreak
Just a week into the new semester, UNC-Chapel Hill has canceled all of its in-person classes and has gone back to virtual learning only. This decision came after there was an outbreak of 130 student COVID-19 cases on the campus. The outbreaks were traced to clusters at two on-campus residence halls, one off-campus student housing facility, and one fraternity house. Crowded bars have also been attributed as one possible source of the outbreak as well.
Smaller outbreaks of the virus have already been reported at various other universities around the country, including Appalachian State, East Carolina, Oklahoma State, and Notre Dame.
Pray that God would suppress the outbreaks of COVID-19 on our universities and colleges nationwide. Pray for campus officials, as some are already taking steps to return to remote classes only, and many others, faced with new outbreaks of the virus, are considering doing this as well. Pray for the Lord to give His wisdom to those who have to make this call. Pray for God's protection over students, faculty, and staff at the campuses. Pray for students as some, perhaps many, will now to readjust back to virtual learning and may have to return home.
Is. 12:2: "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation."
