Prayer #153: For the Shortage of Coins in the United States During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Over these five months of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, a nationwide coin shortage has developed. The reason for this is that with the economic closures, the flow of coins has been considerably reduced. A reduction in workers at the United States Mint also contributed to this shortage: 10% fewer workers in April and 20% in May to allow for adequate social distancing. As various states are in the stages of reopening, this shortage has been somewhat alleviated, though some banks, retail stores, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. are still running short of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. The United States Mint and the 12 Federal Reserve Banks have been giving much attention to this problem. Near 1.6 billion coins were produced in June.
Pray that the coin shortages at banks and stores across the country would soon be fully alleviated. Pray for the U.S. Mint as it continues to manufacture coins in an effort to restore the supply of active coins.
Heb. 4:16 "Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
