Prayer #166: For Stress from Working at Home During the COVID-19 Outbreak
Recently, 2,000 people across the nation that are now working from home during the COVID-19 outbreak were surveyed to see how they were faring during this time of work adjustment. About 65% of them indicated that working from home has proven to be stressful. The source of the stress is the difficulty in maintaining a good home-work balance. Many of those surveyed also felt pressure from their employer to be working longer hours than before by being available at more extended hours, and said when surveyed that on average they are working over their normal hours three days a week and giving their employer about six extra hours each week.
The average person in the survey clocked out at 7:17 p.m. However, 26% of the respondents said that they didn't sign out from work until 10:00 p.m. There were some that worked on some occasions until 2:00 a.m. 63% indicated that they felt that their company was discouraging them from taking time off during this time of working from home, and 59% of those surveyed thought that if they didn't work extra hours and go above and beyond, their job was in jeopardy.
Pray for the hundreds of millions of people that have been working at home for months during the Coronavirus crisis. We do thank God that so many can continue to be employed, but we do pray for the stress that so many are feeling to be alleviated. Pray for companies not to take advantage of their employees' availability while working at home. Pray too for the needed balance between work and family while one or both spouses are working out of their house.
Ps. 55:22: "Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved."
