Prayer #173: For Continued Overall Decrease in COVID-19 Cases in the U.S., and for the 11 States Where the Virus has slightly Increased
Overall in the United States, the number of COVID-19 cases reported daily continues to drop. The number of cases reported for the country yesterday, 33,506, was less than half of the daily number for the peak day on July 16. Since mid-July, there has been a steady drop.
There are, however, eleven states that are presently seeing Coronavirus spikes of 5% or more over this past weekend, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. These states are Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Nebraska New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Though in many cases, those at or near 5%, this is a comparatively low spike, some states, such as Wisconsin, which has seen a 30% spike, have much higher increases. There is some concern about this trend, since Labor Day weekend just recently passed, and students, in some places, are going back to school with in-person classes. Public health officials are urging everyone to continue to use masks in public and to follow social distancing.
Pray that the COVID-19 cases would continue to decrease across our country. Pray also that these spiking trends in these eleven states would turn around quickly so that the rise of the Coronavirus in these states would soon subside.
