Prayer #175: For Communication of Vital COVID-19 Information
The communication of important COVID-related information is of vital importance, and we want to pray today for those disseminating the information and also, the technological systems employed in doing so. The importance of the latter was underscored just recently in Mecklenberg County in North Carolina, where this past Friday, 6,727 people were mistakenly informed via text messages that they had tested positive for COVID-19, and 542 were told this via a county government e-mail.
At first county officials indicated that the messages were a scam, but hours later, they realized that they were the result of a technical glitch in the software system, provided by Health Space, used for COVID-19 contact tracing. It happened during routine overnight software maintenance, which result in the COVID-19 alerts going out to thousands of people that should not have gotten them. The problem, once identified, was quickly remedied.
We are reminded by this that we need to be praying for those who are tasked with communicating vital information concerning the Coronavirus, including test results and statistics on the number of infections and deaths. Pray for much care and discernment for these peoples charged with this important task. Pray also for the many software systems and computers used to store, process, and disseminate COVID information. Pray that this technology would be carefully monitored, tested, and maintained.
Matt. 11:28: "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
