Prayer #181: For Israel's Second Lockdown Due to COVID-19

Israel currently has one of the largest COVID-19 infection rates in the world and entered into its second lockdown on Friday for at least three weeks, just as the high holy days began with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year festival, typically a time for extended family get-togethers. Israel is one of the first countries to return to a lockdown. During the past week, new cases have reached daily highs of in excess of 6,000. Thus far, Israel has had 1,169 deaths from the virus, and approximately 177,000 confirmed infections. The new lockdown is proving widely unpopular, with protests arising as a result. Under the lockdown, residents must stay within 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) of their homes, except for traveling to work and buying essential items, and the number of people allowed at synagogues has been significantly reduced. Schools and shopping centers must close, and no more than 10 people can meet indoors and 20 outdoors. Non-governmental businesses and offices can remain open, but with no in-person services. Grocery stores and pharmacies will remain open.

Pray for the nation of Israel during this second lockdown. Pray for God to sustain their economy, which will take a second, severe hit. Pray for God's protection of the citizens of Israel and that they would exercise patience during this frustrating return to lockdowns. Pray for a mighty move of God in Israel in the midst of this great hardship.

Is. 40:29: "He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might He increases strength."
