Prayer #20: For the Governors of the U.S.
Largely, the responsibility for the decisions regarding business closings, allowable numbers of people congregated in one place, aisle flow in retail stores, closure of parks, the designation of essential businesses which can remain open, and many other things regarded to the Coronavirus, have fallen on the shoulders of the governors of our U.S. states. So, we want to pray for them today. They need much wisdom and understanding now. And, at some point, whenever that will be, each state governor will need to be able to say with assurance that these restrictions can be relaxed.
On this day we pray for our governors across the nation. Pray that God would give them much wisdom each day as they monitor the impact of the COVID-19 virus in their state. Pray that they each would find the proper balance between attending to the safety of the citizens of their state and to the state's economic conditions. Some states, such as New York, have been greatly impacted by the virus; others, more sparsely populated, such as West Virginia, the Dakotas, and Wyoming, have had little effects. Pray that each governor will know what steps to take, and when to take them. Pray that they would be able to gather accurate information to help them assess where their state is at present. Pray that they would know the right time to begin to relax the restrictions.
1 Tim. 2:1-4: "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessors, and thanksgivings be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way. This is good, and it is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth."
