Prayer #204: For COVID-19 Reinfection
There have been a handful of cases of COVID-19 reinfection in places around the world, but, out of the 37 million people that have been infected, they remain very rare. For this, we can indeed be thankful to God. Infectious disease experts say that COVID-19 is very stable genetically and is not mutating quickly. Such mutations give rise to reinfections, as new strains of a virus are created. Most diseases, in fact, either do not return or if they do, the symptoms are considerably milder. In the case of COVID-19, there have been only two documented cases globally where the infection was more serious the second time. More research is needed to track possible reinfections, but thus far, it is very encouraging.
Let's pray today for God's protection from reinfection for those who have had COVID-19. Pray that the virus would continue to be stable genetically and that new, more virulent strains would not be produced.
1 Chr. 16:34: "O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever."
