Prayer #206: For the City of Denver During a New COVID-19 Outbreak
Denver is experiencing a new spike in COVID-19 infections. After a peak in April and another one in July, this is the third wave of Coronavirus in Colorado's largest city. At the start of this past week, the city's 7-day case average was 127, just over the 126 of the April peak. On Monday, the 7-day average of COVID-related hospitalizations was 174, up 37% from the week before. The positivity rate for COVID-19 tests is now between 4 and 4.5%. If it exceeds 5%, city authorities are concerned that they will have to scale back its reopening efforts. The mayor of Denver, Michael B. Hancock, has announced stricter city requirements, with masks, until further notice, now required to be worn outside, except when alone or with a household member. Also, the number of unrelated people allowed to gather together in both public and private places has been reduced from 10 to 5 until November 16.
Pray for the city of Denver as it seeks to respond to this new COVID-19 outbreak. Pray for wisdom for Mayor Hancock and the city's public health leaders as they continue to monitor this situation and take steps accordingly. Pray for the Lord to watch over this city, especially those most vulnerable to the virus.
