Prayer #210: For Nursing Homes and the Elderly During the Coronavirus Crisis
We want to continue to be in much prayer for the elderly, age seventy and over, who are the most vulnerable for developing severe complications from the COVID-19 virus. Nursing homes continue to be a particular place of concern. This past Monday, health officials from Norton County, Kansas, reported that all 62 residents of the Andbe Home, a privately-owned nursing facility, tested positive for the virus. This has resulted in at least 10 deaths. One of the remaining 51 patients is hospitalized, while the others are being treated at the nursing home. Several staff members have also tested positive, and the others are awaiting test results.
It remains unclear how COVID-19 entered the nursing facility. The surrounding Norton County presently has a 10.3% positive test rate. Overall, the state of Kansas had 2,113 new cases and 13 deaths from Friday through Monday.
Let's remember to keep the elderly across our nation and around the world in much prayer as the COVID-19 virus continues. Pray especially for nursing facilities and retirement homes. Pray for God's protection from infection for this vulnerable age group. And remember to pray specifically for the residents and their loved ones at this nursing home in Kansas.
Ps. 3:3: "But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory and the lifter of my head."
Note: Today marks 7 months of continual Daily Coronavirus Prayers. Thank you for faithfully lifting up these prayers. With the COVID-19 virus still very much in strength, I will be continuing to send these out as the need continues. So, let's keep praying!
