Prayer #212: For U.S. Military Personnel During the COVID-19 Pandemic
There are presently 1.3 million active-duty U.S. military personnel, spread over 150 countries of the world. About 165,000 of these are assigned permanently to foreign countries. Remarkably, out of these 1.3 million, there has been only one active-duty service person that has died of COVID-19 since the beginning of the outbreak this spring. This was Chief Aviation Ordnanceman Charles Robert Thacker, Jr., 41, who died in April. "Our infection rates were much lower than the American people," Defense Secretary Mark Esper stated in a recent discussion at the Heritage Foundation, "and every---every loss is terrible, but thank God we only lost one active-duty service member, and that the force has done pretty well."
We want to thank the Lord for His merciful protection over our many active-duty military personnel. Pray that they would continue to experience this extremely low rate of COVID-19 infection. Pray for them and their families, as some are unable to furlough to see families due to Coronavirus restrictions in other countries and in ours as well.
1 Chr. 16:34: "O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever."
