Prayer #214: For the COVID-19 and the Flu
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the flu season has now officially begun, according to health officials. The confluence of the two is being referred to as a "twindemic" by some medical professionals. "We know that flu seasons can be very severe and historically, can lead to thousands of deaths each year," stated Dr. Nicole Iovine, an epidemiologist at the University of Florida. "That added on to the ongoing pandemic is extremely, extremely concerning."
However, many health officials believe that due to the current precautions being taken to prevent COVID-19 infection---the use of face masks, exercising social distancing, the frequent washing of hands, etc---this year's flu season may be far less severe. This seems to be borne out in nations such as Australia that have already gone through winter and where the flu season was a mild one.
We do pray for this year's flu season, in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, to be very mild. Pray that indeed, the precautions against COVID-19 would greatly help to fend off the flu as well.
2 Sam. 22:32: "For who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God?"
