Prayer #235: For COVID-19 Testing
COVID-19 cases have greatly increased in the United States recently, especially in the Midwest and the West, but also in some eastern areas, such as New York City. 11 million cases have been reported in our nation since the beginning of the pandemic in March. Many health authorities are concerned about the accuracy of the rapid tests for the virus. Those people that receive a positive result from a rapid test are advised to go have a PCR test, which detects genetic material from the virus and is much more accurate. The rapid test is a screening for COVID-19 antigens and is known to have up to 50% false positives. There have been many reports of this in the past months. The CEO of the electric car company Elon Musk, for example, recently had four rapid tests done---two came out positive and two negatives, from the same testing location, with the same nurse administering the test and the same detection machine used. On the other hand, if the PCR test comes back positive, it is quite likely that the person tested has the COVID-19 virus.
Pray for the millions of people getting tested for COVID-19. Pray that those receiving a positive result from a rapid test would then get a PCR test. Pray for much care and caution for those administering these tests day after day. And let's continue to pray that this persistent, virulent pandemic would soon begin to subside.
Lk. 1:51: "And His mercy is for those who fear Him from generation to generation."
