Daily Prayer During the Coronavirus Crisis

Prayer #248: For Record-High COVID Hospitalizations in the U.S.

For the 32nd day in a row, hospitalizations due to COVID-19 have increased in the United States. On Thanksgiving day, approximately 90,481 people were in the hospital because of the virus. Various states are reporting at or near capacity hospitals, which is generally meant that the ICU capacity is being overwhelmed, rather than the whole hospital. ICU beds are very limited in most hospitals; in a mass pandemic like the Coronavirus, where patients with severe complications from COVID-19, especially respiratory, ICU beds can be occupied very quickly. The Centers for Disease Control is direly predicting that deaths from the virus could reach 321,000 in the coming weeks. As of Friday, the reported deaths related to COVID-19 are 264,100.

Pray for hospitals in many states in the country that are struggling with ICU bed capacity problems. Pray that God would give them the wisdom to know how to best handle this overwhelming demand due to severe COVID-19 cases. Pray that by God's mercy, the virus would begin to subside this fall and winter, instead of accelerating, as some health officials are forecasting.

Joel 2:13: "And rend your hearts and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love; and He relents over disaster."
