Prayer #253: For the Longevity of the COVID-19 Virus
A study published on Monday in the medical journal Clinical Infectious Diseases concluded that the COVID-19 virus was in the United States earlier than has heretofore been indicated. In the study, 7,389 blood samples from nine states (California, Washington, Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin) were analyzed for the virus. These samples were from blood donations given between December 13, 2019, through January 17, 202o. The first identified COVID-19 case in the U.S. was on January 19, 2020. The virus was present in 106 of these 7,389 blood samples. This study indicates that COVID-19 was introduced into the U.S. at least by mid-December of last year, and perhaps earlier than that.
As seen in this study, COVID-19 has exhibited unusual staying power. Pray that, by God's mercy, this longstanding virus would be soon eliminated.
Ps. 31:7: "I will rejoice and be glad in Your steadfast love because You have seen my affliction; You have known the distress of my soul."
