Prayer #256: For Recent CDC Guidance on Wearing Masks Indoors
Yesterday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an announcement urging U.S. citizens to wear masks indoors when not at home amid a rise in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. "With colder weather, more time spent indoors, the ongoing U.S. holiday season, and silent spread of disease, with approximately 50% of transmission from asymptomatic persons, the United States has entered a phase of high-level transmission where a multipronged approach to implementing all evidence-based public health strategies at both the individual and community levels is essential," the CDC statement said.
Other strategies recommended by the CDC during this time of COVID-19 surge include maintaining at least six feet of social distance, limiting in-person contact, avoiding nonessential indoor spaces and crowded outdoor spaces, increasing testing to rapidly identify and isolate infected persons, contact tracing, safeguarding high-risk individuals, protecting essential workers, postponing travel, increasing room ventilation, practicing hand hygiene, and the widespread availability of a vaccine.
Pray for our nation during this surge in COVID-19 leading into the Christmas season. Pray that as these measures are practiced, there would be a significant quelling of this virus across our land, and around the world. Continue to pray especially for God's protection for our senior citizens and for health care workers.
Rom. 12:12: "Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer."
