Prayer #265: For the Recently Discovered Coronavirus Mutation in the U.K.
A new strain of the Coronavirus was recently identified in the U.K. A mutation---which is simply a change---of a virus can either be for better or worse. What it means is that an antigen mutates, either to adapt for a better chance of survival or takes on faulty characteristics, which can lead to its extinction. This new genetic variation has been observed in about 1,000 people in the U.K. "Authorities are looking at its significance," Mike Ryan, chief of the World Health Organization's (WHO) emergency program, stated. "We have seen many variants; this virus evolves and changes over time." It's still unclear whether this new variant of the virus makes it more or less transmittable, or if it interferes with testing or vaccines. The news of this new mutation comes at a time when parts of the U.K., including London, are preparing to enter the toughest Tier 3 restrictions, with cases of COVID-19 rising, with bars, pubs and restaurants closed except for takeout and traveling into central London for Christmas shopping strongly discouraged.
Pray for the U.K. during this time of COVID-19 surge and the appearance of this mutation, the effects of which are not yet known. Pray that these new restrictions would be greatly effective in the fight against the pandemic in the U.K.
Ps. 119:113: "You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word."
