Prayer #27: For the Churches During This Time When Assembly Is Not Permitted
Like everyone else, the Body of Christ has had to do a lot of adjusting during the Coronavirus outbreak. Worship services with more than 10 people are not permitted, and thus, churches have, wherever possible, resorted to Livestreaming and/or video recording their worship services. Small groups, leadership and committee meetings, are having to connect together using Zoom. Through all this, the gathering together in one place, certainly one of the hallmarks of worshiping as a church, is greatly missed. Many ministries of the local church are finding it challenging to continue as effectively. And some people in the church, especially the widowed and singles, are feeling more isolated. And, from the point of view of finances, many churches are struggling right now because offerings, which have to be sent in, are down considerably.
We lift up our area churches and those across our country. Pray that they would rest in the Lord during this time of testing. Pray that the Church, though it cannot have meetings in its buildings, will nevertheless be a great source of comfort and support for those who need special care in their churches, as well as for those who need Christ, as individual members of churches minister to those in their neighborhood. Pray that God would use this time in the life of Church to instill a greater thankfulness for the opportunity of worshiping together. And, pray that God would provide for His churches during the economic downturn associated with the Coronavirus.
Ps. 92:1-2: "It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to Thy name, O Most High; to declare Thy steadfast love in the morning, and Thy faithfulness at night."
