Daily Prayer During the Coronavirus Crisis

Prayer #280: For Coronavirus in Children

According to data from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), children now comprise 12.4% of all COVID-19 cases in the United States. A surge in cases of the virus between mid-November and now has doubled the total number of cases observed in children. As of November 12th, there were a reported 1 million cases of the Coronavirus in children. That figure is now 2 million. Holiday travel may possibly be a major factor in this increase, although this is not known for certain. For the previous week, ending December 24th, there were 179,000 new child cases of the virus. As of December 17, 172 children have died from COVID-19. About 1.8% of all COVID-related hospitalizations are for children. The AAP believes that the COVID-19 count for children is an underestimate since children often evidence mild if any symptoms. These new numbers come as the reopening of schools in many states is a matter of considerable discussion.

Pray for God to watch over and protect children from COVID-19, especially at schools that may be opening in January for in-person learning. Continue to pray that the COVID-19 virus would soon begin to subside as vaccinations continue.

Col. 1:11: "May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy."
