Prayer #31: For Accuracy of Coronavirus Reporting
The reporting of the COVID-19 cases and resultant deaths is being done on a state-by-state basis, generally by state health departments, and there is mounting concern about the overall accuracy of the numbers. Presently, over 900,000 cases of the virus have been reported in the U.S., with about 52,000 deaths. Just recently, though, the state of Pennsylvania removed 200 deaths from their previous reporting, a significant fraction of the total deaths due to Coronavirus listed for that state. These 200 deaths were reported as "probable" deaths due to COVID-19, though the patients were never tested. We want to pray today for as accurate reporting of Coronavirus data as possible; the measure of progress in the fight against the virus necessitates this.
We pray for all organizations that have been tasked with reporting on the number of cases of COVID-19, especially state health departments. Pray that each of these would have both the necessary testing data and medical/hospital records to make an accurate and definitive evaluation for Coronavirus reporting. These departments are no doubt working to capacity and then some during this crisis. Pray for God to sustain all who work there and to strengthen them to endure during very taxing work schedules.
Is. 41:10: "Fear not, I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand."
