Prayer #316: For the Spread of COVID-19 Studied by Age-Groups
A study completed recently by Imperial College London indicates that people in the age bracket of 20-49 appear to be the ones that most readily transmit the COVID-19 virus in the United States. The study, which was done using cell phone data from more than 10 million people, showed that the vast majority of infections in this country, 65 out of 100, originated from people in this age group. "We find adults aged 20-49 are a main driver of the COVID-19 epidemic in the United States and are the only age groups contributing disproportionally to onward spread, relative to their population size, Dr. Melodie Monod, one of the research team, said. "We believe this study is important because we demonstrate that adults aged 20-49 are the only age groups that have consistently sustained COVID-19 spread across the U.S. despite large in the scale and timing of local epidemics. Thus, at least where highly transmissible variants have not been established, additional interventions targeting the 20-49 age group could bring resurgent epidemics under control and avert deaths." Targeting this age group for vaccinations could, these researchers state, also hasten school reopenings.
Pray for those in federal and state health care that are making decisions on the subsequent priority of vaccinations as the data of this important study are examined and considered. Pray that this could perhaps lead to a quicker eradication of COVID-19.
Ps. 59:16: "But I will sing of Thy might; I will sing aloud of Thy steadfast love in the morning. For Thou hast been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress."
