Prayer #318: For Vaccine Distribution Difficulties in California
California is presently ranked amongst the lowest states in the per-person distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines for those eligible to be vaccinated. The state has vaccinated approximately 4 million residents. This is more than any other state, but California is the most populous state, and on a per-capita basis, only about 7% of the currently-eligible population has been vaccinated with the first dose, and 1.6% with the second. This is due to the fact that there have been considerable shortages of vaccines in this state. A number of counties, including Los Angeles, Fresno, and San Diego Counties, have experienced shrinkage in shipments of the vaccines in past weeks. Some people have had their appointments for the first shot canceled as a result. There are indeed shortages of vaccines in many other U.S. states as well.
The production and delivery of the COVID vaccines in a country the size of the United States is an enormous task. Pray for those manufacturing the vaccines at the Pfizer and Moderna pharmaceutical companies, for the delivery of the vaccines overseen by the federal government, and the actual vaccination locations, which are at hospitals and other health centers. Pray especially that those of highest risk---age 70 and up plus all health care workers---could be vaccinated soon.
Ps. 61:1-4: "Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to Thee, when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I; for Thou art my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. Let me dwell in Thy tent for ever. Oh, to be safe under the shelter of Thy wings!"
