Prayer #347: For Cruise Ships, Still Closed Amidst COVID-19
All cruise ships worldwide have been closed since the outbreak of COVID-19 last March. Some of the first big outbreaks of the pandemic occurred on cruise ships such as the Diamond Princess, and during the pandemic, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identified nearly 3,000 cases of the virus and 34 deaths across 123 ships. With many people in close proximity during a cruise, they have not yet been deemed safe as the pandemic has continued into 2021. There have been astronomical losses in the industry as a consequence, perhaps the worst of any industry. Recently a new Framework for Conditional Sailing Order which applies to ships carrying at least 250 people has been developed by the CDC and will require cruise lines to demonstrate their infection control measures as well as run simulated test cruises with non-paying passengers.
Pray for cruise lines as they have experienced a devastating economic shock due to COVID-19. Pray for wisdom for the CDC and cruise line personnel as they put together what is needed for safe voyages and for the conducting of these test cruises.
Ps. 118:5: "Out of my distress I called on the LORD; the LORD answered me and set me free."
