Prayer #359: For the New COVID Lockdown Paris
COVID-19 has been steadily rising in France since early January. To date, only about 3.4% of its population has been fully vaccinated. The French Prime Minister Jean Castex announced yesterday that Paris would now be locked down for a month due to a new surge in the Coronavirus. Presently, there are more COVID patients in the city's hospitals than during the city's second wave of the virus that occurred this past fall. "The epidemic is getting worse," Castex said. "Our responsibility now is to not let it escape our control." This new lockdown came as a blow to Paris businesses that had been gearing up for the springtime tourist trade, important to the city's economy. Schools will remain open, but all non-essential businesses will be closed completely, including Paris' restaurants and sidewalk cafés. In addition, there are limits as to how far a resident can exercise while away from home. According to French health officials, the variant of COVID-19 is now present in 75% of the cases there. The current positivity rate for COVID-19 tests in France is 7.7%.
Pray for France, and in particular, Paris, during this latest outbreak of COVID-19. Pray that this surge would soon subside. The rate of vaccination has been increasing in France over the last week or so. Pray that more people could be safely vaccinated in a shorter period of time than previously. Pray too, during this period of the pandemic, for a softening of hearts toward the Lord, in a spirit of repentant humility, in France and indeed, around the world, including our own nation, so that there might be a true and powerful spiritual transformation across the earth.
Ps. 147:3: "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."
