Prayer #364: For the Easing of Some COVID-19 Restrictions in North Carolina
North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper signed an executive order yesterday, easing some of the COVID-19 restrictions across the state. Cooper reported that the state's positivity rate for COVID-19 tests has been below 5% for much of the past two weeks. Daily new infections remain below 2,000, and the number of people hospitalized due to the virus remains below 1,000. Deaths from COVID-19 are very low. Yesterday, there were 13 deaths statewide that were attributed to COVID. Under the governor's executive order, retail stores, hair salons, barbershops, museums, and aquariums can now operate at 100% capacity (previously, it was 50%). Restaurants, gyms, pools, skating rinks, bowling alleys, and amusement parks can now be open at 75% capacity, up from 50% before. Bars, movie theaters, conference centers and arenas can now operated at 50% capacity both indoors and outdoors, up from 30% or 250 people, whichever was less, previously. Governor Cooper's new executive order doubles the limit on large gatherings, 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors. "These are significant changes," Cooper said, "but they can be done safely. But I emphasize this: This pandemic is not over yet. We're only able to keep this virus in check while we ease restrictions if people act responsibly and follow safety protocols." The statewide mask mandate remains in effect.
We thank God for these reduced COVID restrictions in North Carolina. Pray for continued reduction in the virus across our state as vaccination proceeds in all 100 counties.
Ps. 68:19: "Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation."
