Daily Prayer During the Coronavirus Crisis

Prayer #369: For Mexico's High Death Toll from COVID-19

The Ministry of Health in Mexico very recently revised the number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 in that country. By mid-February, the ministry now reports, there were 294,000 deaths, about 60% more than there were believed to be before. Since then, another 27,000 deaths from COVID have been reported, bringing Mexico's death total to about 321,000. This means that Mexico now has the second-highest number of deaths from COVID (the United States having the highest at approximately 562,000), having exceeded Brazil's previous second-highest death toll, which is about 312,000. This is especially concerning because Mexico has a considerably lower population, 126 million, than the United States, 328 million, or Brazil, 211 million. A lack of widely-available healthcare is cited as a major reason for the higher death toll from COVID in Mexico. And, oxygen, needed for critically-ill patients with COVID-19, is in short supply in that country. There are long lines outside hospitals and other providers, as people wait for tanks and refills. Also very important is that, as of now, only a very small percentage of people in Mexico, 0.65%, are fully vaccinated.

Pray for Mexico in the face of its large loss of life due to COVID-19. Pray for badly needed help to come for its healthcare facilities, and for more oxygen and other critical medical equipment. Especially pray that more vaccines would be available and much more vaccination would be possible in Mexico.

Ps. 88:1-2: "O LORD, my God, I call for help by day; I cry out in the night before Thee. Let my prayer come before Thee, incline Thy ear to my cry."
