Prayer #374: For the FDA's Update to the Emergency Use Authorization for the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine
In spite of the fact that there are now three COVID-19 vaccines approved for emergency use by the FDA available in the United States---the Pfizer vaccine, the Moderna vaccine, and the Johnson and Johnson vaccine---the vaccination pace in the U.S. has not increased measurably since January. It is still proceeding at the rate of about 0.25% of the population per day. If vaccination continues at this rate, it will be some months before all who desire to be vaccinated will be able to get their shot(s). Very recently, the FDA, in an effort to expedite the vaccination pace, has made a revision to its emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Moderna vaccine. This update authorizes the availability of a larger multi-dose vial from which vaccinations can be drawn. From the previous vial, 11 doses could be extracted. The larger vial will now supply 15 doses. "Ultimately, more vaccines getting to the public in a timely manner should help bring an end to the pandemic more rapidly," Peter Marcks, director of the FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, stated in a press release yesterday.
Pray that the availability of this larger vial of the Moderna vaccine will help to speed up the pace of vaccination in the United States. Continue to pray for everyone that is part of this important vaccination effort, from the manufacturers of the vaccines, to the distributors and transporters, and to those administering the vaccines at hospitals, drug stores, and large vaccination sites.
Ps. 145:13-14: "The LORD is faithful in all His words, and gracious in all His deeds. The LORD upholds all who are falling, and raises up those who are bowed down."
