Prayer #411: For Countries Where There Still Are Little or No COVID-19 Vaccines
Even as many countries around the world are making excellent progress in vaccination for COVID-19, there are still some countries that have yet to receive any vaccine available at all. Many of these nations are in Africa, including Chad, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Eritrea, and Tanzania. All told, the World Health Organization (WHO) indicates that there a dozen countries that have not received an initial shipment of COVID vaccine. "Delays and shortages of vaccine supplies are driving African countries to slip behind the rest of the world in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout," WHO stated, "and the continent now accounts for only 1% of the vaccines administered worldwide." In addition to these countries with no vaccine available, there are as many as 60 nations where people have received their first of two shots, but, due to global shortages of vaccines, may not receive their second shot, since additional vaccines may not be available until June. According to the head of WHO, Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreysus, about one in four people in richer countries have received a vaccine, while only one in 500 have in poorer countries.
Pray for more availability of COVID vaccines around the world, particularly in underdeveloped countries. Pray for the necessary manufacture, national approvals, distribution, and delivery needed to reach people in nations with little or no vaccines available.
Ps. 39:12: "Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry; hold not Thy peace at my tears."
