Prayer #415: For the Lifting of Masking and Social Distancing Requirements for Fully Vaccinated Individuals

Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced yesterday during a White House briefing that individuals who are fully vaccinated no longer need to wear masks either indoors or outdoors, nor will they need to social distance in either large or small gatherings, with the final ruling on the implementation of this being left to the individual states. Those who are fully vaccinated are still advised to wear masks while in such crowded settings as public transportation, hospitals, prisons, and homeless shelters. "We have all longed for this moment when we can get back to some sense of normalcy," Walenksy said. "Based on the continuing downward trajectory of cases, the scientific data on the performance of our vaccines and our understanding of how the virus spreads, that moment has come for those who are fully vaccinated," Walensky noted that immuno-compromised individuals should consult their physician before giving up masking. She also warned that if there is a rise in the cases of COVID-19, the masking/social distancing requirements could be reinstated. "This virus can be unpredictable, so if things get worse there is always a chance we need to make a change to these recommendations," she said. North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced this afternoon that the masking and social distancing requirements in the state have been removed for people who are fully vaccinated, except for public schools, healthcare settings, childcare facilities, public transit, and in prisons. All current capacity limits on indoor facilities have been lifted. "Getting vaccinated is our way through this," Cooper said.

We do indeed want to thank God that we have gotten to this point, after 14 months of masking and social distancing. Pray that COVID-19 would continue to descend as more people are vaccinated.

Ps. 54:4: "Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life."
