Prayer #54: For Those Dealing with Depression During the Coronavirus Outbreak
Worry and anxiety concerning the COVID-19 virus, and perhaps even more, the isolation because of the Coronavirus restrictions, has led some into a state of depression. Normal routines have been disrupted, and it is for many a very stressful time. Numerous jobs have been lost and the economy has crashed. For many, national trauma has led to personal trauma. Feelings of melancholy, emptiness, and pessimism have become prominent for some. Those who were already struggling with depression are finding that it has been exacerbated by the current situation. Others who are used to staying busy now have more time on their hands and, alone with their thoughts more, have become downcast.
Pray today for those who are struggling with depression during the Coronavirus crisis. Pray that they would turn to God and find profound comfort in Christ Jesus that would enable them to overcome their melancholy condition. Pray too for the personal ministry of Christians in the lives of those suffering from depression and for biblical counselors who God uses to speak truth and encouragement into their hearts and minds.
Psalms 42:5: "Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, my Help and my God."
