Prayer #58: For the Flour Shortage During the Coronavirus Crisis
Some of you have undoubtedly noticed the conspicuous absence of flour on the grocery store shelves, and yeast as well. The reason for the shortage is simply this: with hundreds of millions of people in the U.S. still in various stages of quarantine, many more people are baking at home. Sales for one popular flour company, King Arthur, spiked more than 2,000% in March alone after the stay-at-home orders took effect across the country. Since then, flour manufacturers have struggled to keep up, and presently, they are fighting a losing battle. The shortage will eventually correct itself, but perhaps, like many other things, not until the quarantines are fully lifted.
Pray for flour-producing companies as they struggle to keep place with a seemingly insatiable demand on flour due to a massive spike in in-home baking. Pray that they would be able to find ways to catch up with it. Pray that in the meantime, consumers would be patient and that neighbors would share if they have an excess of flour---just like in the old days where neighbors watched out for one another. Especially pray that we as Christians would be alert now to how we can bless our neighbors in such easy and practical ways.
Gal. 6:2: "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.'"
