Prayer #61: For People Needing Important Medical Care During the Coronavirus Crisis
One of the unintended consequences of the Coronavirus restrictions, which encourage or even mandate that people stay at home most of the time, is that people needing important and possibly urgent medical care are not receiving it. This is because they are in many cases reticent to go to the doctor for fear of contracting the COVID-19 virus, or, in some instances, the doctors' offices are not encouraging the visits. Cancer treatments, organ transplants, and urgently needed surgeries have sometimes been delayed. People needing regular monitoring for diabetes, hypertension, respiratory diseases, and cardiac disease, for example, have not always been able to get to the doctor for these important visits. Many in the medical community are deeply concerned that this lack of medical attention will lead to many more deaths than COVID-19.
We do want to pray for the literally millions of people who are in need of ongoing medical visits for chronic and acute conditions and illnesses, and for those who need urgent surgeries. Pray that as the various states begin the reopening process, those in need of this medical care would feel that conditions are safe enough for them to go and get what they need. Pray for God's protection for people that are at risk from various medical conditions until they are able to get to the doctor.
Ps. 4:8: "In peace I will lie down and sleep; for Thou alone, O Lord, makest me dwell in safety."
