Prayer #82: For Workers Still Stranded on Ships
As of right now, there are still some 42,000 workers stranded on cruise ships. They have been unable to leave their ships for months now, since the worldwide outbreak of COVID-19. Hundreds of thousands of workers on cargo ships are likewise stranded at sea. Only slowly now, as countries are beginning to relax Coronavirus restrictions, have smaller numbers of ship workers been able to leave and return to their homes. Those who are stuck at sea are not receiving paychecks, for the most part. There are some suffering from COVID-19, but many are well. This situation has led to a high degree of mental strain, depression, and feelings of hopelessness among these workers. The United Nations is now calling on countries to lift their travel restrictions for seafarers so that these workers can get back to their homes.
We do pray for these ship workers as they endure this terrible ordeal at sea. Pray that safe arrangements can soon be made for them to return to their homes without contributing to the spread of COVID-19. We pray for the families of these workers, who have not seen their loved ones who are aboard these ships since March. Pray especially for the Lord to work powerfully among these many ship workers stranded at sea. Pray that many would run to God in the midst of this great hardship.
Ps. 145:9 "The Lord is good to all, and His mercy is over all that He has made."
