Prayer #89: For Community During the Coronavirus Crisis
As men, women, and children made in God's image, we were not created to live in isolation. God made us to live in community. This is one of the things that has made the time of COVID-19 restrictions so difficult. Isolation during this time has been particularly hard for older adults with underlying medical conditions, chronic conditions, and physical or cognitive impairment. Youth and children, who long to be with friends, likewise, feel acutely the lack of available community during this time. Social distancing, for all of us, is a great hardship, because we were made for closeness, hugs, and togetherness. So today we want to pray for this situation that we all find ourselves in during the Coronavirus outbreak.
Pray that the COVID-19 would die away, so that this enforced isolation to protect against the spread of the virus could be relaxed and then removed altogether. Pray that during this time of social distancing, meaningful relationships could be maintained via Zoom and online. Pray most of all, though, that many who are lonely and feel greatly their sense of isolation would turn to God for comfort and abiding love.
Deut. 31:8: "It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed."
